Banco Comercial Angola was established in Lisbon on 14 June 1956, by deed drawn up in the notes of Pedro Augusto dos Santos Gomes, by order of the Council of Ministers of 7 February 1956.
With the independence of Angola in 1975 and the subsequent nationalisation of the banking and insurance sectors (Decree 129/75 of 7 October and Decree 69/76 of 5 November), Banco Comercial Angola gave the origins of the most popular Angolan bank, acting mainly as a bank for the absorption of individual savings.
